What is a Furnace?

It’s 19 degrees outside.  Cold.  In this weather, the electric and gas meters are moving even faster than me making a barefoot run to the mailbox.  The world can be cold and bleak at times, but  my home is warm because the One who lives there insulates my heart, and keeps the fire burning.   Life may be a little more difficult when it’s cold on the outside, but it sure makes you grateful for the Furnace on the inside.

Furnace:  an enclosed chamber in which heat is produced to heat buildings, destroy refuse, smelt or refine ores, etc.

  1. Barefooted to the mailbox in winter? Wow! You’re more of a man than me. I wear socks and my flip flops to get our mail in winter. Steve Green sang these words about the furnace: “No matter what I may lose, I choose the refiner’s fire.”

    1. Well, parts of me are being refined, I am sure. But I think the Holy Spirit spends a fair amount of time trying to get rid of the refuse as well! Either way, He warms my heart!

Regarding your friends, I will pray that God’s furnace will do some cleaning and refining for their hearts as well.

  2. Prayer request! I have dear friends on Harkers Island whose marriage is in the grasp of the enemy. Plead over them!
