Pictures from the Haiti Youth retreat – March 2011

You can see the games in progress.  It was hard to take pictures of myself teaching, but there were some bible lessons each day as well!

The most fun game for me?  Wrapping groups of kids with stretch wrap then having them race around the field!  Although, the lifesavor relay was a close second.  Have you ever licked a lifesavor and stuck it to your forehead?  I have!

The best lesson for me?  The story of our dog Charlie, who runs away.  He makes me so angry.  He messes with the big I.  Wastes MY time.  Won’t do what I want, and in the process, ruins my peace.  But if I am not my own . . .  if I am bought with a price . . .  if I am crucified with Christ, then why am I worrying about MY rights?  I am glad God is like my wife Tammy, who welcomes Charlie back home even when he runs away.  She says of Charlie, “He needs me.”  And so he does, even when he doesn’t know it.  As 1 Peter says, . . . be humbled under the mighty hand of God . . . then you can cast all your anxiety on Him.

May the God of Peace be with you.

Mark
