{"id":878,"date":"2010-11-22T06:53:39","date_gmt":"2010-11-22T11:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=878"},"modified":"2010-11-22T06:53:39","modified_gmt":"2010-11-22T11:53:39","slug":"olla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=878","title":{"rendered":"Olla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I went to Olla Louisiana last week.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a little place, a very little place, in the middle of the state.\u00a0 I was there for a business trip, but I took some binoculars with me because I figured I might get to see some stars at night.\u00a0 After all, Olla is a long way from anywhere.\u00a0 Bright city lights should not be a problem.<\/p>\n<p>In Atlanta, the bright city lights do overwhelm some of the stars.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes it&#8217;s frustrating.\u00a0 I tried to see a comet a few weeks ago, but even though it was a clear night,\u00a0the sky was just too bright.\u00a0 The comet was nowhere to be seen.\u00a0 Unable to outshine the lights of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Since it was a very small town in the middle of the countryside, I figured things would be different in Olla . . . and they were.\u00a0 I saw even fewer stars in Olla than I had seen in Atlanta.\u00a0 The city lights weren&#8217;t the problem;\u00a0the clouds were.\u00a0 An overcast sky is pretty deadly to a stargazing party, even in Olla.<\/p>\n<p>When I got back home, I looked up at a clear Atlanta sky.\u00a0\u00a0There were the stars.\u00a0 Maybe not as many as\u00a0a clear sky in the country\u00a0would reveal, but more than enough to reveal the glory of God&#8217;s creation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I do grumble about living in Atlanta.\u00a0 The crowds and congestion can be frustrating.\u00a0 However,\u00a0I do believe it is where God has put me, at least for now.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And, whether stargazing or just living life, I would rather have a clear sky in\u00a0Atlanta than a cloudy sky in Olla any time.<\/p>\n<p><em>Now godliness with contentment is great gain. \u00a0For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. \u00a0And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0&#8211;
