Our\u00a0cat suffered from a blood clot last night.\u00a0 This morning, Tammy and I took him to the vet for the final time.\u00a0 One last visit, to end the suffering.\u00a0 Once the sad deed was done, I went on to work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The remainder of the work day was pretty normal.\u00a0 The trip home was not.\u00a0 The car lurched.\u00a0 The engine quit.\u00a0 Smoke starting filling the inside.\u00a0 My car was on fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I pulled over, coasting to a stop,\u00a0got out of the car and\u00a0opened the trunk.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0flames were just starting to grow near the battery.\u00a0 I\u00a0grabbed something from the trunk and fanned them out.\u00a0 As the smoke cleared, I could see the problem.\u00a0 The\u00a0clamp that holds the battery in place had come loose and shorted against the positive post of the battery.\u00a0\u00a0With the loose clamp removed, I cranked the car and headed home to bury the cat.<\/p>\n
We had 15\u00a0years with the cat.\u00a0 For that, I am thankful.\u00a0 The fire in the trunk could have quickly escalated into something much worse, but it didn’t.\u00a0 For that, I am also thankful.\u00a0 It is the end of a difficult day, but I am at peace because through it all, God has been with me.\u00a0 For that, I am very thankful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
