I saw Lady Liberty smoking a cigarette while standing by the road.\u00a0 It wasn’t exactly the Statue of\u00a0Liberty.\u00a0 It was more like a grizzly dude in a costume that was a really bad caricature of\u00a0the Statue of\u00a0Liberty.\u00a0 I think he was supposed to be catching my attention and pointing me in the direction of a tax service that used the statue as a logo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
He got my attention all right.\u00a0 With the\u00a0top of his costume\u00a0pushed half off his head so he could deal with the cigarette in\u00a0his\u00a0mouth, I suspect this\u00a0Lady Liberty\u00a0poser did not portray the image the tax company had in mind.\u00a0 But then, I don’t think this guy was overly concerned with his image.\u00a0 Else why would\u00a0he dress\u00a0in a green\u00a0robe and encase his head with a giant foam likeness of Goldilocks?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He made me laugh as I drove right on by.<\/p>\n
Why would a grown man do something so silly?\u00a0 I can only assume it’s because he is getting paid to do it.\u00a0 And why would a company pay a man to DO something so silly?\u00a0 Because they are trying to get people’s attention.\u00a0 It got my attention and gave me incentive to learn a little more about them, and that is exactly what they wanted.\u00a0 My curiosity made me look.<\/p>\n
Many years ago, a man’s curiosity lead him toward a strange site, which resulted in\u00a0the freedom of his people.\u00a0 Moses saw a burning bush and went to check it out.\u00a0\u00a0 The Bible says, “When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him . . . ”\u00a0 I read that this morning and realized again, God didn’t call to Moses until he had turned aside to look.\u00a0\u00a0Moses saw something out of the ordinary and took the time to see if there just might\u00a0be something\u00a0wonderful at\u00a0work.\u00a0 When he went to check it out,\u00a0he heard from God.<\/p>\n
I wonder what\u00a0Moses would have missed had he walked on by?\u00a0\u00a0No less than an encounter with Almighty God, I am sure.\u00a0 I wonder what I miss because I walk on by?\u00a0 What opportunities will present themselves to me today?\u00a0 If I experience something a little unusual, will I consider, “Could God be working here?”\u00a0 God gives me a choice.\u00a0 Will I look?\u00a0 Will I listen?\u00a0 Will I choose to move toward Him?\u00a0 Or will I just laugh at the strange site . . . and drive on by?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
