{"id":2235,"date":"2014-04-29T13:26:56","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T17:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=2235"},"modified":"2014-10-04T09:09:41","modified_gmt":"2014-10-04T13:09:41","slug":"wait-the-sun-is-late","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=2235","title":{"rendered":"Wait, the Sun is Late"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bob sat in his chair looking for the sunrise.\u00a0 He stared out the window, just waiting for the faint light to appear on the horizon.\u00a0 He glanced at the clock.\u00a0 It should be coming up by now.\u00a0 Maybe there are clouds blocking the weak early morning light.\u00a0 He waited.<\/p>\n<p>Bob waited in that chair for another 2 hours, but the sun never showed itself.\u00a0 He began to imagine the worst.\u00a0 What if the sun went out?\u00a0 What if the sun never did shine again?\u00a0\u00a0 Suddenly feeling colder, he stood up, grabbed an afghan and wrapped it around his shoulders, then began to pace the floor. \u00a0For several days, the\u00a0news had heralded the coming of massive sun spot activity, but no one had predicted the sun would stop shining. \u00a0 Bob&#8217;s heart was beating so fast and hard that he could feel it throbbing in his temples.<\/p>\n<p>Most days, Bob worked the evening shift, getting home just a few hours before daylight. \u00a0Typically, he would come home, eat a snack, then sit in his chair and read for a bit. \u00a0When the sun started coming up, he would go to bed. \u00a0 Now, as he waited for the sunrise that didn&#8217;t happen, he was beginning to realize it would all be night shift from this point on. \u00a0What he didn&#8217;t realize is that he had fallen asleep in his chair shortly before dawn, and slept the entire day away. \u00a0It wasn&#8217;t 8AM.
