For us living in the USA, today is Independence Day. \u00a0It is the day when we celebrate our declaration of independence from England. \u00a0We celebrate it because independence is a big thing for us in the US. \u00a0We are proud of our independence. \u00a0That self reliant leave-me-alone-I-can-take-care-of-myself kind of spirit. \u00a0Today we shoot fireworks to celebrate, but all year long we teach it to our children and proclaim it to the world. \u00a0Live free or die. \u00a0Work hard. \u00a0Do your own thing. \u00a0Learn to be independent. \u00a0 From the time we are very little, we are taught to fight for, obtain, and hold on to our independence. That is my problem.<\/p>\n
I recently read a little book by Andrew Murray called Absolute Surrender<\/em>. \u00a0It reminded me of what I knew the Bible proclaims. \u00a0Independence is not the answer. \u00a0It is not the best way to live. \u00a0The best way to live a happy, joyful, holy life is not independence. \u00a0It’s in dependence . . . on God. \u00a0Today, I celebrate my “In Dependence” day.<\/p>\n
