{"id":1419,"date":"2011-11-30T14:03:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-30T19:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=1419"},"modified":"2011-11-30T14:34:25","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T19:34:25","slug":"thresholds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=1419","title":{"rendered":"Thresholds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tammy was in a small accident this morning.\u00a0 She was sitting at a stop sign when a young lady in a car bumped into the rear of Tammy&#8217;s van.\u00a0 There was no damage to the van, but the other lady received a small crinkle on her bumper and, according to her, a &#8220;ruined day.&#8221;\u00a0 Nobody was hurt.\u00a0 Nobody lost their driver&#8217;s license.\u00a0 Nobody even got a ticket, but the lady declared her day ruined.\u00a0 Tammy assured the tearful young lady it would be OK.\u00a0 There was no cause for a ruined day.\u00a0 After more reassurance and a hug, they each went their separate ways, not even knowing each others name.<\/p>\n<p>When Tammy first told me the story, I thought how I might have reacted had my bumper been crinkled.\u00a0 I think Tammy is right.\u00a0 A slightly crinkled bumper does not constitute a ruined day.\u00a0 A lost job maybe.\u00a0 A report of cancer probably.\u00a0 The death of someone close, surely.\u00a0 But a crinkle in a bumper?\u00a0 It would seem this young lady must have her &#8220;ruined day threshold&#8221;
