{"id":1345,"date":"2011-10-02T08:08:32","date_gmt":"2011-10-02T12:08:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2011-10-22T23:22:58","modified_gmt":"2011-10-23T03:22:58","slug":"swimming-in-cold-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markspruill.com\/blog\/?p=1345","title":{"rendered":"Swimming in Cold Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The pool is closed.\u00a0 We put the cover on it yesterday, but not before I took one last swim.\u00a0 The water was a cool 72 degrees.\u00a0 The air was just a little warmer, and the sun was shining through a clear blue sky.\u00a0 The sparkling fresh water was just daring me to jump in.\u00a0 I\u00a0did it.\u00a0 The water was cold and a little bit of a shock, but I jumped in anyway, and in the process, found joy.<\/p>\n<p>There is something about acts like this that lift my sprit.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know why.\u00a0 I hope it&#8217;s not a character flaw.\u00a0 What I THINK I like, is to be comfortable.\u00a0 To sit and relax.\u00a0 To do the easy things.\u00a0 To do the usual, normal things.\u00a0 But what I find brings me joy is to suck it up every now and then and force myself to do something just a little out of that box.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t resist the urge to add to my &#8220;Fun things I did this year&#8221;
