Haiti Youth Retreat Update – 2\/5\/2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

American Airlines called me this week to tell me my flight to Haiti had been cancelled.\u00a0 It appears I will not be going . . . for now.\u00a0\u00a0 In the mean time, I will keep the materials I have bought and try to always be ready for whenever God says, “Go.”<\/p>\n

Haiti Youth Retreat 1\/18\/2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

I spoke with pastor Jean Alix Paul this evening.\u00a0 He would like to continue with plans to hold the youth retreat in February.\u00a0 They will not be taking the youth out of town, but will hold the retreat at the church.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assuming conditions and circumstances allow, I still plan to attend.\u00a0 Please be in prayer for the Haitian people and that God will guide us to make the right decisions so that we can be in the center of his will.<\/p>\n

Haiti Update 1\/15\/2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

I received some emails from the pastor and his brother, confirming they are all OK, but the need is VERY great.\u00a0 I do not yet know about the youth retreat.\u00a0 A more urgent issue regarding Haiti travel is regarding a medical trip that was already scheduled for later this month.\u00a0 That group, under the same mission organization which helps with the youth retreat, is struggling with several tough decisions right now.\u00a0 Check out the IAM<\/a> website and please continue to pray.<\/p>\n

Haiti Update 1\/13\/2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have received a little more information.\u00a0 The children of the orphanage and the church people survived with only a few minor injuries.\u00a0 The buildings are also ok except for a few minor cracks in the school building.\u00a0 The pastors’ home is ok as well.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0still do not know if the Youth Retreat will be cancelled or not.\u00a0 I have not yet been able to contact the pastor directly.\u00a0 Keep praying, and thank the Lord\u00a0for\u00a0the safety of\u00a0His people.<\/p>\n

Youth Retreat Status\u00a0 1\/12\/2010\u00a0 :<\/strong><\/p>\n

A\u00a0major earthquake\u00a0has hit Haiti.\u00a0 I don’t know how this will affect the youth retreat.\u00a0 Communication with Haiti is very difficult right now.\u00a0 I’ll post more when I find out what is going on.\u00a0\u00a0 In the mean time, please pray for\u00a0pastor Jean Alix Paul, his family, and the people of Haiti.\u00a0 We have heard that the pastor and his imediate family are ok, but we don’t know any other details.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Youth Retreat – February 12th – 18th, 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re getting ready for the 2010 Haiti Youth Retreat.\u00a0 This year’s theme will be “War & Peace.”\u00a0\u00a0 If you want to help provide some of the supplies needed, the list is below.\u00a0\u00a0 I haven’t built a complete list yet, but I know I’m going to need some of the things listed.\u00a0\u00a0 Some of the items could easily be purchased by multiple people.\u00a0 i.e.\u00a0 buy 1 bible, 5 pairs sunglasses, etc. and someone else\u00a0could also buy a bible, sunglasses, etc.\u00a0 If you can’t help by providing materials, you can ALL help by praying.\u00a0 Also, if you would be interested in going with me (this time or some other time), let me know.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2,000 Q-tips\u00a0<\/span> – Got em.\u00a0 Thanks Tammy!
\n200 straws\u00a0 (regular size, straight, not bendable kind, i.e. able to shoot a Q-Tip )
\n4 rolls of duct tape in 4 different colors
\n20 rolls of Life Savers in the classic fruit flavors (not mint ones)
\n20 bags of Skittles
\n20 sunglasses (cheap dollar store ones are fine)
\n1 set devil horns
\n1 small devil’s pitchfork
\n1 angel halo
\n20 small, inexpensive compasses that will point north
\n20 large trash bags
\n10 kids board puzzles (e-mail me for more details)<\/span>\u00a0 Tammy got them!
\n4<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 2\u00a0 full size flat bed sheets (old ones are fine)
\n4 French Bibles (can purchase here<\/a> among other places)<\/p>\n

Games and activities will include:\u00a0 A Q-Tip war, belly button war, finding north with a broken compass, making snow and more.<\/p>\n
