I saw a blind person in the airport yesterday.  She didn’t see me.  I was traveling with a couple of heavy bags and a coat.  She was negotiating an international airport without sight.  It was inspiring.

I think most of us are inspired by others overcoming adversity . . .  we just don’t want to be the ones that do the inspiring.

2Cor 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.      -NKJV

  1. Almost makes me want to do some inspiring.

  2. Well, it’s not inspiring, but here’s a story about a blind man. John was working a detail in DC that involved the sidewalk being closed down (only on one side of the street – it’s not like they were asking people to actually take a detour.) All day long, people complained, verbally attacked, and walked right up to and through the barriers, all the while acting as if they were having their civil rights trampled on. One of the guys saw a blind man coming with a seeing-eye dog. From half a block away, the dog saw the barrier, stopped, safely guided his owner across the street, and continued happily on his way on the opposite side of the street. One of the guys said, “That dog is smarter than 80% of the people we’ve seen today!” Maybe nobody told the dog about his right to complain and abuse the people working the barrier. Or maybe he just didn’t think it was worth the effort. Or maybe he realized he could get where he was going from either side of the street.

    • Tiff,

That’s a great story. Makes me feel like I need to apologize to my dog for my bad attitudes. Thanks for sharing it!
